8. Review Strategy and Full-Test Readiness

Using the formula sheet efficiently: the GED® formula sheet lists area, volume, and key algebra formulas. On test day, flip to it when you see geometry — do not rely on memory. What it does not give you: order of operations, percent-change formula, distance-rate-time, or unit conversions for time.

Calculator vs. no-calculator: the first 5 questions are no-calculator. Keep those strategies mental: estimation, fraction arithmetic by hand, integer arithmetic.

Backsolve strategy: when an MCQ has numeric choices, plug each back into the problem. If only one works, it is the answer without solving algebraically.

Eliminate and estimate: before solving, eliminate answers that are way too big, too small, or have the wrong sign. This raises your odds from 25% to 50% or higher before you calculate.

Unit-check habit: after every calculation, re-read what the question asked (area? perimeter? rate? price?). The GED® loves answer traps that are correct calculations for the wrong quantity.

Time management: the full 115-minute test averages about 2.5 minutes per question. Finish the easy and medium items first, flag the hard ones, then return. Never leave any question blank — there is no wrong-answer penalty.
