This is the elite GED® Mathematical Reasoning practice exam -- the final and hardest of all five. The format never changes:

  • 46 questions in 115 minutes.
  • Part 1 (Questions 1-5): NO CALCULATOR. Expect fractional and negative exponents, rationalizing a radical, an exponent equation, and a complex fraction -- all by hand.
  • Part 2 (Questions 6-46): CALCULATOR ALLOWED.
  • A formula sheet is provided (next lesson); no returning to Part 1 once Part 2 begins.
  • Scored 100-200, with 145 to pass. No penalty for wrong answers.

What makes Level 5 the hardest of all: there is not a single routine question. Every item is a hard problem that stacks multiple ideas and often hides the real question one step past the obvious answer. If you can score well here, the real GED® Math test will feel comfortable.

Quick Check

If you can pass Level 5, how should the real GED® Math test feel by comparison -- harder or easier?
