1. Read the Figure Before You Calculate

Many GED® Science questions are not testing whether you memorized a fact. They are testing whether you can read evidence. The evidence may be a table, a line graph, a bar graph, a scatterplot, a diagram, or a short experiment summary.
Use the same routine every time. Read the title. Read the axis labels. Notice the units. Check the scale. Then find the row, column, point, bar, or line segment the question asks about.
Do not let familiar topics pull you away from the data. If a question gives a graph, the answer usually comes from that graph. Outside knowledge can help you understand the context, but the evidence in front of you controls the conclusion.
