Learning Objectives
Consolidate vocabulary, inference, and evidence strategies into a single reading domain checklist, identify your remaining weak spots, and conduct a targeted review drill.

Vocabulary in Context — Master Checklist
☐ I cover the target word before reading the sentence.
☐ I substitute my own word before reading the choices.
☐ I check for context clues: definition, contrast, example, logic.
☐ I eliminate choices that match the topic but not the sentence logic.
☐ I verify by substitution — I read the sentence with my chosen answer.
☐ I distinguish connotation and degree when two choices have similar denotations.

Most commonly missed vocabulary patterns:

• Words used in their second, less common academic meaning (check, challenge, inform)
• Near-synonyms that differ in degree (suggest vs. demonstrate, alter vs. transform)
• Formal words with informal-sounding synonyms as traps

Inference — Master Checklist
☐ I find the specific passage sentence(s) the question is testing.
☐ I paraphrase the relevant passage text before looking at choices.
☐ I ask for each choice: "Can I point to exact passage words that support this?"
☐ I eliminate choices that are: too far, outside knowledge, extreme version, contradicting.
☐ The correct inference is the minimum necessary conclusion — not the most dramatic.

Most commonly missed inference patterns:

• Choosing the most "reasonable-sounding" choice without textual support
• Missing the qualification (passage says "may," choice says "proves")
• Confusing the limitation with rejection (a warning is not a dismissal)

Command of Evidence — Master Checklist
☐ I read the claim (in the question) before evaluating quotations.
☐ I ask for each quotation: "Does this support the specific claim, or just the topic?"
☐ I choose the most specific, precise quotation — not the most interesting one.
☐ For two-part questions, I answer Part A before I look at Part B choices.

Week 8, Session 1 Review Drill

1. Retrieve your error log entries for Domains 1 and 2 (Craft & Structure, Information & Ideas).
2. Sort them by trap type.
3. For the trap type that appears most often, write three self-made examples that illustrate the same trap.
4. Answer this session's 12 questions as a timed mini-test (aim: 13 minutes).

If your error log shows more than 3 errors in one domain across the course, spend 20 minutes today re-reading that domain's lesson content and reworking 5 of those errors.
