1. Level 3: The Expert Reading Test
GED® RLA: Full-Length Practice Exam (Level 3 - Expert) · preview lesson
This is the expert GED® RLA practice exam. The format is unchanged:
- 46 questions plus the Extended Response, in 150 minutes.
- A Reading Comprehension part and a Language & Editing part; scored 100-200, with 145 to pass.
What makes Level 3 harder: the passages demand that you read for strategy and stance, not just content. A full paired-passage set asks you to compare two texts on the same topic -- where they agree, where they clash, and how their tones differ. Other items test irony, symbolism, and rhetorical devices. There are no give-away questions.
When two passages argue opposite sides of one topic, a question about their 'point of disagreement' asks you to find what?
Find the specific claim the two texts take opposite positions on.
